But how would I know if I had that experience or not, or if I was being conned by you know who, or tricked by my own subconscious?

Well, first of all, a person needs to be baptized and then receive the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost just as it was done in the primitive church. After that, then they are entitled to that gift if they are worthy, and if and when it is received that it is a powerful burning witness which is unmistakable.

Where does one feel this unmistakable powerful burning and what makes it unmistakable?

It's hard to explain. It's like trying to tell someone what it is like to be in space, but if they have never been there then it would all seem strange.

Then how do you know it is what you think it is? If nobody has been able to explain it to you before you have had it, then how do you know that what you had was it once you'd had it?

So, what does that prove?
Many other people in the FLDS/Seventh Day Adventist/Scientologist/Catholic etc Church have described the same burning feelings that you have experienced when they have reached conclusions opposite to yours.

The chances of them being deceived are approximately the exact same as the chances that you are...

Drifting, while their churches are stagnating. The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS continues to grow, and one day it will fill the whole earth as Daniel prophesied!
