Only Mormons believe you have to be a man to have the gift of prophecy.

But your skewed view of authority aside, you made the claim that Seven Day Adventists don't view Ellen White as a prophetess, when most certainly they do.

Then you claim that she isn't a prophet because you don't believe she is. Well, good grief, no one but Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet. Everyone else puts the word "false" in front of the word "prophet".

You don't have anything to convince anyone that Joseph Smith is a prophet, not any more than Seventh Day Adventists do for Ellen White. Your personal belief is not convincing.

Madeliene, perhaps you should try reading my posts more carefully. Joseph Smith claimed to be a true prophet of God, and he was! Ellen White never claimed that she was a prophetess of God! Women can and have been prophetesses. However, there has never been, Biblically or otherwise, a woman who has had the true priesthood of God along with the gift of prophesy, which are both required to function in the office of a prophet or an apostle, etc. However, I am told that there was a woman pope at one time, which, if true, would certainly be a strong argument for an apostasy!

Why within Mormonism are women inferior when it comes to being entrusted with the power and authority to act in God's name?

not true, you are mistaken.
You confuse the priesthood being endowed with the ordination of an office.
In other words women are NOT viewed as inferior with regards to the priesthood, they simply do not have the same hierarchical status with regards to the church administration.

Sometimes the lack of logic here appalls me! How does stating something about non LDS Christians imply that LDS are not Christians?!?

Well, when we have LDS going around saying they'll be God, I can understand how they might wonder about that.

Tobin, hate to bring you full circle ...but it's only the LDS men who are going around claiming they will be a god. In this utopian world of godhood Mormonism has created women will still have a lesser role...they'll still be home minding the "kids" while the men go about doing the important stuff like creating worlds and such.

I think gdemetz, you embody every reason I'm not Mormon. I don't envy your arrogance, one day, you'll realize you're less than the very least. Maybe then, you'll be able to truly turn to Christ.

Yeah, the whole concept that has grown up around it is idiotic and false. I really wish Mormons would reject the "I am going to be God one day" idea and realize that is simply NEVER going to happen. But, as I've said to you, Mormonism needs to be touched and reformed. It has a lot of very false stuff floating around that needs to be disposed of.
