Three complaints to your post.

1. I don't consider myself an amateur when it comes to discussing wine, masturbatory or not (I doubt you would know the difference).

2. The thread is just now getting interesting. The discussion of wine can serve as a metaphor for the discussion international opinions in general.

3. Opinions of Europeans towards Americans are generally not condescending. It's usually the other way around. Your's is a good example.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

funny, your complaint smells an awful lot like an insult...but hey, the last throws, right?
besides, most amateurs seldom consider themselves as such...especially with wine...wine has the ability to make one consider themselves to be more accomplished than they might actually be....which is usually the case, and i see no exception from the content of your posts on the topic.

it can serve as that...but alas, this has not been the case here.

i am not condescending of Europeans...just more favorable of Americans (in general), based on a variety of factors, experiences, and data.

I think you started with the insults:

Your comments sound a little adolescent. How old are you? If you had any knowledge of wine you would have joined in the conversation instead of being childish. Apparently you are well acquainted with masturbation... does your bishop know? Grow up a little.

no, not envious...just disappointed at how flaccid the discourse was over such a typically mundane subject.
Without delving into Parker or Peynuad and the nuances of the wine market, there was simply no "bouquet" to the wine-talk.
Though i currently avoid such indulgences (for spiritual reasons), they are not foreign to me, nor is the idea that discussion about wine can, and should, be about something of at least minor substance.......and this thread was not it.

A fine wine example Drift, thanks for contributing. I assume this is your Parker reference? hardly seems to justify American smugness though....

Why does Otterson think Europeans are too smug to understand American pluralism and why is he being 'superior' about the whole thing?
