Re: My Column in the "Mormon Times"
Interesting article, Dr. Peterson. I love how this dovetails with your recent FARMS Review piece. Here, though, you're using The Chronicles of Narnia to show how "vile" and deeply immoral acts (mercilessly attacking TBMs, say) are actually going to be appreciated by Heavenly Father. I'm sure you're hoping that HF will say, "Well, you misheard me when you decided to launch a smear campaign for the umpteenth time, but I will accept this as loyal service nonetheless." I have to admit, I'm somewhat enjoying all the meta- and self-reflexive Mopologetics that have been underway as of late. And the use of The Chronicles of Narnia as evidence was a nice touch---it reminds me of Greg "The Fly" Smith's allusion to The Lord of the Rings in his discussion of Schryver's FAIR talk. So, what's next? Will you use Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire to show us all how the Book of Abraham is a legit translation? Maybe a reference to Dora the Explorer as a means of shedding light on Book of Mormon geography?

Hello,
It never ceases to amaze me the depths to which an apologist will go to make his or her point. Mr. Peterson's foray into absurdity has hit bottom, and has begun to dig. Using a C.S. Lewis novel to make his point is dimwitted at best. These people...

I think you'll find that their perception of us is still overwhelmingly negative:

The vast majority of Americans have a strongly unfavorable opinion of us. I think we can overlook that sort of "friendship."
So what did we have to do to win this hypothetical friendship? Not much. Just sell our gay neighbors down the river.

Hi Joseph,
I was going to use my "phone a friend", but I will save it and take a shot on my own.
Perhaps because there are so many who spend their entire lives not acknowledging him at all?
Peace,
Ceeboo
Nah, that can't be it. Atheists are a tiny minority.

Same reason any dad wants his child to love him.
Yeah, but most dads don't resort to threats to get it.

Dr. Peterson, I hope you can speak more about religious commonality in future columns. It would help address the theme of Mormons being picked upon after we so diligently erected barbed wire fences and built that huge "We're # 1" sign along Highway 89. Emphasizing commonality might help eliminate some of the wire.

I can't wait for your article on the commonalities shared by Scientology and Mormonism.
