Re: The Person and Nature of Jesus in the Book of Mormon
Maybe David is your King but Jesus is my King, and McConkie has more authority in my book than you . And The Translation is The Living Translation which makes it clear it wasn't David since he wouldn't be called Holy One for one thing .
Paul makes it Clear Psalms 45:6 is a reference to Jesus not David. I take Paul over a blind guide. The Translation is accurate your theology is a mess.

Meaningless.
Mittens wrote:and McConkie has more authority in my book than you .
It's not a question of authority.
Mittens wrote:And The Translation is The Living Translation which makes it clear it wasn't David since he wouldn't be called Holy One for one thing.
And that translation is flat out wrong. It's one of the most ridiculous translations I've ever seen. For instance, it evidently translates Acts 2:29 as follows:
Dear brothers, think! David wasn’t referring to himself when he spoke these words I have quoted, for he died and was buried, and his tomb is still here among us.
Here's the Greek:
Ἄνδρες ἀδελφοί ἐξὸν εἰπεῖν μετὰ παῤῥησίας πρὸς ὑμᾶς περὶ τοῦ πατριάρχου Δαβίδ ὅτι καὶ ἐτελεύτησεν καὶ ἐτάφη καὶ τὸ μνῆμα αὐτοῦ ἔστιν ἐν ἡμῖν ἄχρι τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης
Please point out where the Greek supports the rendering "David wasn't referring to himself." Y'see, the name "David" is in the genitive and is not the subject of any verbal clause, so it can't possibly say "David wasn't referring to himself." Your translation also completely ignores what Greek is actually in the first clause. So, if you like your translation so much, defend it.
Mittens wrote:Paul makes it Clear Psalms 45:6 is a reference to Jesus not David.
You're begging the question. When I assert that Paul misunderstands the verse, you can't presuppose that he doesn't in your argument.
Mittens wrote:I take Paul over a blind guide. The Translation is accurate your theology is a mess.
The translation is an utter and complete joke, and I defy you to show otherwise.

So you in think David was referred to as the Holy One ? and your leaders teach he went to hell ? Sorry but you are totally wrong, that why Peter makes it clear it was a reference to Jesus and not David. The Translation that's a joke is the Joseph Smith Translation.
Try defending this JST
CHAPTER 1
The gospel preached in the beginning -- John beareth record of the gospel, and of Christ -- Is Elias -- Andrew, Philip, and Peter called.
1 In the beginning was the gospel preached through the Son. And the gospel was the word , and the word was with the Son, and the Son was with God, and the Son was of God.

Of course. The Hebrew of Ps 16:10 is חָסִיד, which really means "faithful ones." You find the phrase חסידי יהוה, or "faithful ones of YHWH" (you could even say "holy ones of YHWH" and it would still explicitly not refer to YHWH or to Jesus) in 30:5; 31:24; 37:28; etc. You would be surprised how much differently you would understand the scriptures if you actually knew the languages.
Mittens wrote:and your leaders teach he went to hell ? Sorry but you are totally wrong, that why Peter makes it clear it was a reference to Jesus and not David.
As I already explained, the text absolutely does not say that at all. It is nowhere in the Greek, and you obviously cannot show otherwise. Instead, you're trying to evade the issue by countering with an entirely off-topic rant about whether or not the JST is correct. Until you can show me exactly where the Greek indicates that the reference was to Jesus and not David, you're just barking at the moon.

Re: The Person and Nature of Jesus in the Book of Mormon
If Maklelan thinks David is the the Holy One Acts 2:27 and and Acts 3:14 it's very evident that this verse should apply to him.
2 Corinthians 4
1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not , lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

No, it's not evident at all, and you can't even begin to support that inference.

If you think Acts 2:27 and Acts 3:14 are references to David it is evident you are blinded by the god of this world and have no spiritual discernment of God's WORD. You are a sycophant of this god of this world.

Re: The Person and Nature of Jesus in the Book of Mormon
Your welcome
Nice little tract I made for Jehovah Witnesses but also agrees with Book of Mormon since the Book of Mormon seems to be written by a person who knew the Creeds of the 4th and 5th century Creeds and wrote these teachings into the Book of Mormon
