Should ex-Mormons continue to wear their garments?

I have been thinking about this and wondering - what are your thoughts about former temple endowed Mormons continueing to wear their garments after leaving the Church?

An odd question (since most exmos seem to enjoy the change from garments to something else.

But if you want to wear them, go for it...It's your skin, wear what you want next to it. I think the important thing is doing something because you want to rather than because some Prophet tells you to.

I guess it depends on whether or not the person who made the covenants associated with the garments takes their covenants seriously.

You bought them; they belong to you. Continue wearing them if you want, or cease wearing them if you want.

The choice is yours.

I would advise against it. If you leave the LDS Church because you believe it to be wrong it follows that you don't find yourself bound by the Temple Covenants you have made. The garment is a symbol of the Covenant. The symbolism would be out of whack for me.

Personally I don't like the clothing aspect of the garment (i.e. their design) so if I didn't believe I'd toss them and go back to boxers and boxer briefs in a second.

Of course you can do whatever you want.

I would consider using them as a tool for mocking those who still believe to be in bad taste and just plain bad manners to boot. However I think I know you well enough to know you would not take that route.

I fail to see this as mocking, unless they wear them as outer clothes or are visible in some other way like flashing. If worn normally no one would know. It is a matter of personal choice. My choice was to discard them as fast as I could. Good riddance.

Selah, I think it's about what makes you comfortable, and what they mean to you. You donned them out of a certain belief, and if that particular belief no longer stands, then for me, the need to wear them would not either. But that is something that you must pray about and think on...and do not let the zealots try to shame you on this one. It's not their underwear.

For me, they were a daily reminder of being misled by a fake religion. They came off not long after I realized what the church was. Besides, here in Texas it would be crazy to wear an extra layer of clothes when I don't have to or want to.
