Mormon "apologetics"

Post by _GoodK »

"Anyways you can go back over to shades site and pat yourself on the back with the rest of the nobodies we got rid of."

So I guess I'm here with the nobodies now... I guess I am a nobody now. Good thing that the moderators over there not only mirror China's internet policy, but also get to decide who is cool and who is a nobody.
Yikes...

But I am quite proud of myself for managing to get so beneath the skin of the pundits at Mormon "apologetics". I was told that there were threads here talking about my threads there, or me, so I thought I'd check this place out and say hello!

They're quite a few MADB pundits here. It's too bad we're nobody.

Well, that was a rather ugly thing to say. I wonder why the people that post here are "nobodies"? Surely there are some active LDS that post at this website, there are some that are investigators, there are (as Richard mentioned) pundits from MAD that post here and there are some otherwise fairly intelligent and insightful posters that contribute to this board (I'm not one of them;).

There are actually quite a few people here that just decided to stop posting on MAD for a variety of reasons that were never banned.

I didn't really see anything that was said by you that was all that bad. Except for the Dumbledore remark, that probably pushed the line. But, other than that I thought you had some good points on attacking atheism and the anti-Mormon thread.

Anyway, welcome, again. :)

Welcome to the MD board. It may not be gentler but it is kinder.

Thanks. For the record, I didn't even get suspended for the Dumbeldore remark... and he was being so arrogant and dismissive, I couldn't help myself:)

It's like all apologetics.

They believe because that is how they want it to be. Apologists can compartmentalize their minds to see what they want to see and not just ignore but deny the existance of contrary evidence that undermines their cause.

It seems you didn't just strike a nerve. What you did was completely unforgivable. You not only showed up a "leading mind" on the board, you used his own words against him and made him look stupid. For that offense, I think we all know, is why you got banned.

When push comes to shove, many apologists can't defend the people or actions taken in the name of their beliefs.

Wow, did they actually say that? Not very nice! (I am assuming, given the poor writing skills in the mod statement, that Dan_G was the author.)

Anyhow, welcome, GoodK. You "got under their skin" because you were scoring points, plain and simple. Sure, they would like to label us "nobodies," but the truth is that they are lurking and reading this site all the time.

Well, it is less nice than the actual truth..... Matthew 9:12

Better than being a 'nobody' eh?

I can see but one solution to dealing with being a nobody. Ritual group suicide.
