Waiting for evidence

What other discipline relies on evidence to be discovered in the future for assumptions made in the present? Tirelessly we hear this refrain from apologists and TBM's as an excuse for holding onto belief in things that have been disproven time and time again.
Is this approach sound? What other disciplines take this same approach of establishing fact based on what could POSSIBLY be uncovered?
Holocaust denial and 911 conspiracies come to mind but this is not a serious discipline.

You mean we have no sound evidence we're giving to you. We (at least I) am a jerk that way.

I want an X-Box 360 and then I'll leave.
In seriousness though, why do you adopt the values you do? Is it because there is evidence for them???

There is a vast difference between "values" and apologetics in support of the historicity of religious claims.

Belief in a polygamous space god and holding to a code of ethics is like comparing apples to a 1996 Ford pickup.

I agree but can't one guide the other? Don't most great discoveries come about because someone said, "What if"?

I find a polygamous space god more likely than having a code of ethics....(We are talking about you right?)

I hate to jump in, but I don't think I want to see this thread deteriorate quite so quickly...
Evidence for values Nehor? How'd you ge tto that. I think the point is that when a religious claim is disproved, evidence is deemed unreliable, unfair, or incomplete. I think it's a happening that is rampant in creationism's attack on evolutionary theories.
