There have been a lot of posts in the Celestial Forum regarding mistakes and contradictions in the Bible. I thought I would be fair and provide a thread in which similar mistakes and contradictions in the Book of Mormon can be discussed. So... let's have it...

Out of curiousity, is that Josh Skains in the new avatar? It works better for you than the old one.

I would like to point out that most of the mistakes in the Book of Mormon are typographic errors, misspelling, and the fact that English was still in the formative stage.

Still, why did God make typographic errors, misspellings, and "formative stage" errors?

He didn't. But since he didn't possess Joseph's scribes or Joseph himself this is not surprising.

To whom do we ask forgiveness and who is it that bestows it upon us?
18 Now, as my mind caught hold upon this thought, I cried within my heart: O Jesus, thou Son of God, have mercy on me, who am in the gall of bitterness, and am encircled about by the everlasting chains of death.
19 And now, behold, when I thought this, I could remember my pains no more; yea, I was harrowed up by the memory of my sins no more.
(Book of Mormon | Alma 36:18 - 19)
..or should we assume that one of the greatest (and perhaps fictitious) prophets ever to walk the earth was never properly taught or forgiven?

I confess I have no idea how the information on that page would change anything.

One missionary was bold enough to ask the area authority this question on my mission. He said we're just supposed to follow the Church and not make waves. That really cleared it up for me. lol
