Has anyone read this and replied. He is preaching the converted. Many of the people here do not use bad language, are rational and present reasonable arguments.

He sure did tell off those secular antimormons. I think he made a reference to Mr. Scratch.

He's right about some of the more pretentious here being incapable of accurately summarizing LDS positions and arguments let alone genuinely engaging them. For instance, a whole thread on whether or not what the Church says about it's own doctrine is true.
I am curious though about his statements immediately afterwards.....
What the board does offer are displays of bravado, strutting, believers' arguments completely misunderstood and misrepresented, bold challenges hurled out to those who are barred from responding, and guffaws of triumph over enemies who are not permitted to reply. Dissent is rigidly excluded from this board, even as its denizens criticize the Church for its supposed "repressiveness." However, notwithstanding the rigorous exclusion of all troublesome dissent from their domain, the faith these posters have in their own unanswerably brilliant selves is oddly refreshing to see in atheists, whom you wouldn't expect to believe in any God at all.
Has anyone on this board not been permitted to reply or dissent? Other than that, he seems spot on. Perhaps he speaks of RfM and not this board.

I think we should ask Dr. Peterson about this. He may have been referring to RfM.
We do not ban here, and allow all viewpoints. We may split threads out into appropriate forums, but we don't censor...hence, the reference to bad language. LOL

That silly speech was from 2005, nearly three years old. I doubt he was talking about this board.

I just accessed the YouTube site and listened to his talk. It was a talk given in 2005, so I don't think he was referring to Shades' board. It sounds more like he was talking about RfM.
Also, RfM's policy is that it is not a place to argue doctrine. Supporters of the Church, are, indeed, censored there. It is strictly developed as a recovery board for those who have left the Church and are struggling. It is basically supposed to be primarily a sounding board for those folks. And, Susan(the board admin) is pretty strict about it.

Then it was not Mr. Scratch. Perhaps it was some amorphous nemesis, much like the one that threatened Paul H. Dunn prior to his moon landing on Iwo Jima.
