I recently received notification from Amazon that my copy of the latest edition of this book by Leon Festinger was in the mail. The Amazon page said that many of those who read the book immediately bought a book called Cognitive Dissonance: Progress on a Pivotal Theory in Social Psychology. I have only read quotes from the book. What do participants here feel about the experience of cognitive dissonance they have in relation to the historicity of the Book of Mormon and Book of Abraham?
My experience with JWs has been when I raised the issue of the failed prophecy of 1975, their response is that only a certain segment of the movement were teaching it. I suppose a similar escape for LDS on the Book of Abraham question is that the original papyri are still lost or the current papyri are a catalyst for the Book of Abraham content. Any thoughts?
