How much damage would this do?

One example of the continuation of feudalism and the extension of indentured servitude that I detest most about this country is grad student slave labor. Once I started to calculate how much money the college was making off me in addition to what I had to pay them directly for the privledge of doing it and I got too angry to continue calculating. They even came out and said that my education was the last priority at the school. patients first (it's amazing how much nonpayers think the world owes them), Staff doctors and presidents salaries and convenience second, helping students learn last. After all, it is an educational institution. So how much does the president of the college make? Well, it's s secret! It's a private institution:) Gee we all know what that reminds us of.
What if the church had to tell how much the big boys were making in SLC including all the perks? Would it make things better for them or is there a reason this secret must remain under wraps?

I've never heard a viable explanation from anyone why the Mormon church must hold it's financials secret.
Over the past 27 years, I had given them over $100,000 in tithing and fast offerings. When you do the math you will notice that, as a full tithe payer, I have been in the low to middle income bracket. I was just one of the 3,000,000+ full tithe payers.
I want my money back.
The Mormon church will not disclose their financials because it would anger all of those that have sacrificed or postponed their financial salvation for the building of lavish temples, office buildings, auditoriums, malls, gardens, christmas lights, buying lucrative businesses, statues via the
good 'ol boy network.
Non disclosure is the oldest form of indirect and cowardly PRIESTCRAFT. Pure and simple.

It wouldn't upset me as much if they didn't talk about it like the GAs are living the most righteous lives. It seems a lot harder to be righteous when you have less to live on.
I doubt lavish temples bother most TBMs. Arguably this is a pretty transparent expense. I mean we all see it and have some idea of what stuff costs. Office buildings is a little harder to swallow, but it still seems like somewhat of an investment. Malls and other lucrative businesses just seems like an investment strategy. I really can't fault them there either.
What I do want to know is how much the MPs were paid, mine in particular, how much take home the GAs get directly from the Church. If they're making book deals I suppose that's all fair game and I can't complain too much.
I'd also be interested to see how they manage the fast offerings. It seems more and more common that each new baptism is the result of a welfare check and obviously dependent on member rides for our overly expensive U.S. transportation system.

Wonder what helps bolster the faith for Church accountants?

temporal blessings? Are LDS accountants called and set apart for that calling and probably carefully interviewed. I guess successful accountants make enough that $150k/year, doesn't seem like too much to them I'm sure.

Ah yes! One of my Engineering professors used to have a moment of silence in honor of all the grad students sacrificed in order to obtain some constant or another.

From your perspective, what kind of life is it to be constantly giving speeches and otherwise working for the Church? No time to spend and use all this money you think they are getting.

I guess if your anger clouds your judgment everything can look like a big bad bureaucracy. What does that tell you about your perspective vis-a-vis the church?

About what I make as a grad student. Their stipends are very modest.

There's a reason. The books became private after some employees did some stupid stuff. The church didn't do anything wrong, but they decided less harm could be done them if fewer people had access to the numbers.

Oh, I've seen this before. Lemme guess, even though the church isn't saying, you've figured it all out, and it's as sinister and underhanded as everyone's figured.
How about the real reason? Some employees a few years back made trouble with the access they had to the books.

The quadriplegics in Uruguay that I fit for wheelchairs provided by the church needed it more. As do the children in Africa with cleft palettes and the hurricane victims from Katrina.

And how are you privy to this information? You're not just blurting out anger, are you? That wouldn't really make a good case against the church.

I guess that settles it, huh? It's been decreed, so we can stop worrying about it.

You make $125,000.00+ per year as a grad student?

No, I make far less than that. I've also seen what their stipends look like. You've only seen the speculation of others equally as antagonistic and cynical as ajax.
