Step 1: Have your facts straight

Step 2: Try to have your facts based on what is known versus what is based on conjecture.

Step 3: Accept that you do not know something.

Debating Metaphysics is like trying to get a Physicist to accept perpetual motion, zero point energy, etc. If one wishes to control the conversation and define a fact as a poorly constructed argument then you will not get far discussing metaphysics when debating a skeptic, which is what you really are saying instead of Atheist.
