I would like to know specifically if President Thomas Spencer Monson is a Millionaire, basically whether or not he has reached that status in his own personal accumulation of wealth? I know President Monson in life was a successful business man. I am curious just how much personal wealth he has accumulated.

I have never seen this question discussed before in any forum and I am curious... as I suspect he is a millionaire.

I found this on the Mormon Curtain. It claims he is a millionaire and mentions some research by Mike Quinn but doesn't give a specific reference. I suppose you could watch the episode of Heart of the Matter that it links to - maybe a source is mentioned there.

Thank you Dwight, yeah I suspect he is a Millionaire. Boyd K. Packer I know is fairly poor and I suspect heavily reliant on the GA. pension, same for Gordon B. Hinkley. However I am guessing President Monson is a Millionaire. It's interesting how well his financial status has been concealed.

Eventually there will be a scandal and the finances of the General Authorities will be uncovered for everyone to see. It's just a matter of time. The tide will change and when the waters ebb away and things are exposed it will prove interesting. I'd bet money that Monson is a millionaire and has milked the church and benefited quite well through his position and all the perks.

One need not live in a mansion to enjoy the rich spoils of being a preacher. Wealth and power are enjoyed in a variety of ways. The knowledge that one is going to leave plenty to their offspring can be satisfying in itself. Plenty of church members' tithe dollars will go to Monson's heirs.

Interesting theory Paul, however I think Monson has made his own money and ligitmately so, he holds degrees in business and the sole purpose of business is to make money.

He may of made money off church investments as you suggest however I do not believe he would've drawn from the church's tithing fund. I am skeptical about him doing anything unethical to accumulate his wealth, essentially I don't think he needed to, it is well known he is a highly skilled business man.

I also think the general authorities pensions come from church investments and not from the tithing fund. You see as the Tanners point out Mormon general authorities really believe the church is true because they are deluded as the tanners believe, so they could not do what your saying because it would psychologically unhinge them. Also not all general authorities receive church pensions, Millionaire GA's do not need it.

How do you define "millionaire"? Is that someone who has more than $1 million in his bank account? Or is that someone whose estate is worth more than a million?

I'll bet he has millions in the bank. President Monson has done what he does best, create warm fuzzies and happy stories all for lining his own pocket and keeping the church going. Has he ever said anything faith promoting about the black slave of Facsimile No. 3? No, because that would be too costly for the church and put the General Authorities at risk.

As far as I'm concerned his stories are on par with elder Paul H. Dunn. I don't believe President Monson's testimonies about anything. He has no credibility with me. Zilch!

What a charming thread. Is Tommy a millionaire? Of course. What you guys fail to understand is that all of the apostles are as good as millionaires because they have at their disposal the perks of a multi-billion-dollar corporation. Yes, Tommy was shrewd and collected quite the little estate to pass on to his family. Some of the other GAs are not as fortunate in that way.

But, the hidden advantages of being a GA are difficult for you to understand or measure. It comes in the passionate devotion of fanatical followers who would happily jump on a man carrying a bomb to protect your life! Now that is power, and power is difficult to measure in dollar signs, although dollars can be turned into power. So, millionaire or not, each of these men is wealthy.

I respectively add that the apostles are given limitless adoration by their flock. Anything they say is perceived to be the Godhonest truth. That has to be worth a million bucks in itself.

Oh how I wish we could peer into the secret financial holdings of President Monson! No doubt he made a fortune being an LDS apostle. Such power! Such opportunity!
