Nice pictures. Is it possible that some were drawn/carved shortly after 1492? How many could be of llamas, rather than horses? Is it possible that the Vikings/Norse brought horses to N America in more recent times (note ogham inscriptions)? Is it possible that some of this "evidence"was manufactured by LDS? I don't buy it as substantiation of LDS claims.

Lots of things are possible. Your not going to find absolute evidence either way.

You do know all religions suffer through these same problems? Christianity without Mormonism still suffers.

This may be slightly off-topic, Josh, and forgive me if it is, but I am curious. Which theory do you subscribe to in regards to where the Book of Mormon took place?

I take the idea of the "lost" civilization very seriously. I think the evidence has been merged into other cultures. I don't buy into the limited geography theory. I believe that the Lamanities are the "Principle" ancestors of the American peoples.

Belief in the Book of Mormon is also belief in supernatural. There were no natural means for the development of the Book of Mormon in a truly believing sense. It isn't natural for rocks to display letters like a computer. :)

Because the belief in the Book of Mormon requires faith, science is not interested in it as a source of history. Since this is the case, I believe things that science or archeology find that might be from Nephi or any of his decendents/followers, I worry that science will miss-classify those evidences.

Say a small group makes pots. But they were nomadic. They go into another, more prominant culture and present their pots, then teach them how to make those pots. The nomadic group moves on and is killed off, leaving no trace of their existance. Archeology finds the pots in the more prominant culture and decide THEY must have made those pots. Archeology simply will never know that they were taught to make those pots from another group.

I also accept that the Book of Mormon itself describes a lot of loose usages of the term Lamanite. We see adoption and at one point everyone who was against the Nephites was called a Lamanite. So I find the DNA search a lost cause.

That is just my thoughts. :)
