It Makes Him Look Even Worse by Contrast, If That's Possible
Hmmmm.
The affectionate little thread that I began here to say a kind word about my friend, who was being criticized very harshly elsewhere on the board, and that I entitled "The Irrepressible Lou Midgley," seems, down in the "Terrrestrial Forum," to have become an exemplary illustration of the kind of civil, substantive, and mutually respectful dialogue to which mean-spirited villains like Louis Midgley and his ilk don't even bother to aspire.
Professor Midgley deserves to be condemned even more vociferously, I think, for his unseemly role in this development.

I'm sure he will. Scratch, or the other "Dr". can't remember which, suggested it was my participation in that thread that was largely a cause for it to be taken to the Terrestrial, but I'm sure that'll be rectified by someone turning it onto Midgley. Blaming me isn't going to take it very far. I'm a nobody.

Well look at the bright side. You've probably demonstrated, by example, that Midgley is at least busy with his life and has little free time to "claim" he's got a lot on his plate yet spends virtually every day posting on message boards!!
Should we be expecting one of your semi-annual "retirements from this board" anytime soon?
Perhaps you are too busy to make the announcement!
Anyway, how are your classes at BYU, your book writings, article writings, speaking engagements, firesides and Olivewood Bookstore appearances coming along! Pheeewww, what a time consuming schedule.
Well, on to your next post I suppose!!!

If we add in an ultraviolet filter we can even accentuate this contrast. However, we can make him look much better with the usage of the blur tool. Don't be discouraged. Kudos to you for making a tribute to your friend and colleague.

My classes are coming quite well. Thank you for asking. I'm teaching two courses on the Qur’an this term: One is in Arabic, helping students of Modern Standard Arabic learn to read the seventh-century Arabic of the Qur’an; the other is a seminar on the Qur’an taught in English.
I spent almost all of yesterday working out the practical arrangements for the April 7-9 annual meeting of the Society for Mormon Philosophy and Theology, of which I'm the current president, and then went out to dinner with Douglas Johnston, the president of the Washington D.C.-based International Center for Religion and Diplomacy.
It was a very productive day, but, alas, it didn't advance my own personal writing at all. Still, it wasn't all bad, even in that regard. The latest volume in the Middle Eastern Text Initiative, which I founded and of which I'm the editor-in-chief -- Moses Maimonides, Medical Aphorisms: Treatises 10-15 -- arrived from the press yesterday. (If you want to purchase a copy, it will be available soon through the University of Chicago Press.)
As far as speaking engagements and firesides go, I spoke in a local fireside last Sunday (to BYU's MIddle East Studies Students Association), and will speak down in the greater Phoenix area next week. No plans to speak at the Olivewood Bookstore any time soon, though.

Brother Midgley must feel so very complimented by not one, but now two threads, created in his honor by his dear friend on a message board that surely should be expected to sing his praises. Good work, sir.
"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. ... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I." - Joseph Smith, 1844

I don't know whether Dr. Midgley is following this, or, if he is, whether he cares.
Still, I appreciate your compliment.
Unfortunately, the original thread that I began in defense of my friend has long since been taken over by various critics in order to provide a real-world demonstration of how much more civil, fair, just, and even charitable they are than Professor Midgley is. And, of course, it was moved down to the "Terrestrial Forum," where I don't participate.

What can I say; sometimes it's just easier to move the whole thing than painstakingly pick out each individual offending post.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

Oh, I'm not complaining about the move. And it's certainly taken (at least) a terrestrial turn since its departure.

What else could you have expected? Nothing, no doubt. Toss in the name of yet another controversial apologist into a place where people can share their thoughts on his behavior and you express surprise or disappointment? You do have a great deal of time to play.
