Paradox and irony in religion - are they the same?

Post by _karl61 »

A young man sits in church and listens to things. He is told about two plans: one is for freedom and one is for force. He hears that the one for freedom won out and that this is good and true and necessary for things to progress. But as he listens and interacts in church he starts to feel pressure, as if there is only one good choice regarding what he will choose in the next few years. He likes options. He remembered how he just voted in a free election and that there was no one outside telling him how to vote, that there was only one real candidate to choose. There was no pressure and he had experienced true freedom, different options or people to choose from. But what he experienced in Church wasn't the same as he experienced at the voting booth. Is he experiencing a paradox or historical irony as he sits in church.
