Just a question; If the LDS church is tax exempt, so that they pay no taxes on the tithings recieved from their members, do they actually have to pay taxes on the money that employees of the church (and BYU) pay as tithing? Since the employees are requiremed to pay it as a condition for continued employment, it can not be considered a voluntary donation, but rather an employment fee.
It would seem to me that their legal standing as a non-profit organization would be jepardized because of this "revenue".
Thanks for any input.

Re: tax exempt
A quick Googling yielded nothing, but I seem to remember reading that the Church pays taxes on its business ventures.
Non-profit employees are not exempt from paying taxes.

If the Church makes a profit on a business venture does it have to pay itself the tithing due on that profit and if so would it be paid on the gross or the net proceeds?
