Mormon Dialogue vs. FAIR

Post by _Enuma Elish »

Much has been made about my brief comment regarding FAIR in the context of a discussion with WIll Schryver regarding he and the "others" who were watching my actions in a way that could limit my opportunities.

Given the fact that as of last year, Will's name has become synonymous with FAIR in some people's minds, and that the Mormon Dialogue moderation, which I have disagreed with, used to be done via FAIR, it is easy to make the emotional mistake that I did and link these separate entities.

They are not one and the same, and for the record, I appreciate the efforts of FAIR to provide serious responses to difficult questions pertaining to Mormonism. I'm grateful for the organization and those who volunteer their services to the effort.

No organization is perfect, but I honestly believe that FAIR is doing a good job, and I have no intention of withdrawing my lectures, and/or participation.

Sincerely,

I don't know if this was posted to reply to my question offered in the Terrestrial forum. Thanks anyway. I have to say I was confused by it all, and felt quite disappointed you had hoped to distance yourself from FAIR. Its an event during the year I look forward, and I've always appreciated your contributions.
Love ya tons,

I've been very impressed by Wiki Wonka's willingness to respond to suggestions and corrections. Other than him, I don't really know anyone involved in FAIR. The moderators at MDD and Will are not "synonymous with FAIR" in my mind.

Will came up with a flashy presentation that all the FAIR Conference attendees wanted desperately to be true. Even if it was smoke and mirrors, it was showmanship on a big level. No doubt some of the audience actually witnessed it with their spiritual eyes.

David, your scholarship and ideas are more solidly grounded and they will win out. Keep plugging along with FAIR and help elevate them. As for Will, offer him some pork butt.

They are in mine.

I believe Will withdrew his FAIR membership before the FAIR conference last year. That's the rumor I heard, and someone who really knows the facts will have to confirm that or shoot it down.
