...in Great Britain.
Here are some of the highlights for the financial year ending December 2009.
Income from donations
2008 31.3m
2009 30.7m
From memory there were circa 185,000 'members' as of 2009, so donation income is the equivalent of less than £14 per month per member.
Specifically tithing income for 2009 was £27.5m, or £12.39 per member per month.
At a time when membership increased year on year, donations went down.
Expenditure
2008 £33m
2009 £41.7m
That £41.7m expenditure is split as follows:
Provision of worship facilities £25.1m
Religious education £6.5m
Missionary work £1.7m
Geneology work £6.2m
Community Projects £2.2m
Of that £41.7m, £20.6m was spent in the areas above on 'support costs'.
Support costs are listed as:
Staff costs £10.2m (19 employee's earn greater than £60,000 p.a.)
Travel £1.3m
Admin £1.8m
Materials £0.4m
Depreciation £6.5m
Cost of Sales £0.4m
Note: £6.5m of expenditure was the transfer of Irish Church properties to the equivalent company in Ireland - so a sort of internal transfer of assets.
Conversely the Church received £1.6m in fast offering and £1.7m of fast offering was spent on helping the poor & the needy.
The Church received donations valuing £0.34m for its Humanitarian aid fund, and spent £0.011m on Humanitarian aid.
The Church received £0.416m in donations specifically for Youth Conferences, and spent £0.481m on Youth Conferences
Some points to note:
1. You will notice that the Church in Great Britain spent £11 million more in 2009 than it received in income. In other words an £11 million loss (including the £6.5m transfer of Irish assets)
2. No tithing was spent on helping the poor and the needy nor humanitarian aid.
3. 19 Church employee's each received significantly more than 5 times the amount spent on humanitarian aid.
4. This financial information will have been available to the people who made the decision that members needed the blessings of cleaning the Chapel rather than employing the janitors etc.
*All of this financial information for 2009 is published and publically available*
