Is Joseph Smith glorified?

I don't mean exalted/resurrected, but glorified in the sense how LDS use the word to mean gaining in power and glory.

I was wondering, since, LDS teach Jesus Christ is glorified by his earthly deeds, if they believed Joseph Smith had the same going on? Does Smith gain something every time someone is baptized Mormon?

I don't remember ever being taught this, but it seems to me it would make sense in the Mormon view of things.

Mormon apologists deny Joseph Smith is a god.

I certainly believe within Mormonism Joseph Smith is officially ranked as second in importance only to Jesus Christ. I'm not sure that is reflected in the time given to each on a Sunday, but I think that would be the position.

So yes, within Mormonism he is glorified.

However, is that justified?
After all, what good did he actually do?

He dictated a Book of Mormon scripture.
He introduced policies and procedures.
He introduced theological ideas and doctrines that have since been recounted.

Would you say he has done more than say Adam/Michael?
Who helped create the world, and started the human race.

Would you say he has done more than Noah?
Who saved the human race, the animal kingdom and all plant life from extinction.

Would you say he was more influential than Nelson Mandela?
Who saved a content from Apartheid.

Should he be more glorified than Brigham Young?
Without whom the Church would not exist today.

When I look at what Joseph Smith actually delivered in real terms, I see no reason for him to be glorified.

From what I understand there are two camps ref Joseph Smith's afterlife:

1) He's mingling with gods in Heaven, and we all know you can't inhabit a sphere of Glory unless you're at that level of glorification.

Praise to the man who communed with Jehovah!
Jesus annointed that Prophet and Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation,
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.

Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven!
Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;
Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honored and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assasins,
Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.

Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.
Ever and ever the keys he will hold.
Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom,
Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.

Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.
Millions shall know 'Brother Joseph' again.

2) Joseph Smith has not been resurrected, and is currently in Spirit Paradise.

ref: Because Mormon apologists say so.

"great is his glory"....wow, I didn't recall that part of this song. I do remember singing "Praise to the man" and "mingling with gods".

Still wondering if Smith's glory is magnified by Mormon organizational success. (?)

Didn't a Mormon leader teach that the prophets of the Old Testament were gods at this point?

Second but equal it character:
”Well, now, examine the character of the Savior, and examine the character of those who have written the Old and New Testaments; and then compare them with the character of Joseph Smith, the founder of this work… and you will find that his character stands as fair as that of any man’s mentioned in the Bible. We can find no person who presents a better character to the world when the facts are known than Joseph Smith, Jun., the prophet and his brother Hyrum Smith, who was murdered with him.” Brigham Young (Journal of Discourses, vol. 14 p. 203)

I wrote a blog around this subject http://www.mormonglennbeck.com/mormon-teachings/mormon-salvation/praise-man-joe-smith-christ/.

Well, at the end of the day, whether or not Mormon apologists agree with the doctrine, the Mormon tabernacle choir is singing this doctrine on a fairly consistent basis, and it's still included in the hymnal. That, right there, ought to tell you something about the Mormon church's position.
