Question for all Believers: Healing/Food Creation Africa?

Post by _keithb »

Following the example of Jesus from the New Testament, I have the following proposal for believers in the church: let's hold a healing and food creating party in Africa tomorrow. Let me explain.

Somalia is suffering under a severe famine at the moment. 29,000 children under the age of 5 have already died as a result of starvation. If the accounts in the New Testament and the claims of the LDS church are to be taken literally, there are many adult males who now hold inside of them the same priesthood used by Jesus Christ to both heal the sick and multiply loaves and fishes for the hungry multitudes. Thus, it should be a simple matter for holders of the Melchizedek priesthood to fly down to Africa and start healing people and creating food out of nowhere for the masses. Additionally, this would show the love of god for his children, the faithfulness of these priesthood holders in their offices, and many other things.

So, priesthood holders: do you accept my challenge? Will you fly to Africa and begin helping the sick and starving Africans using your priesthood power?

If not, why not?

Because the war lords in Somalia would kill anyone who tries to feed those they are trying so desperately to starve to death.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

But, the priesthood holder could always call down the power of god to defeat the warlords ...

It worked for Elijah

Why doesn't God drop Manna to them?

Aside from the obvious?

Maybe god's a dick. Maybe it pleases him to see children starving to death.

OK..I'm waiting for lightning to strike because I just LOL'd when I read this! (Don't mind me. I was up all night with a migraine. I'm at work on severe drugs. LOL)

ETA--Wasn't laughing at the children starving part...was laughing at the irreverence of the "god's a dick" part. ;-)

No I will not. Why? All things must be done in wisdom and order, to leave my job - which I just got 3 weeks ago after 2 years of unemployment, which job provides health insurance, is not a wise approach to taking care of my family.

Secondly, the cynic in mean partly believes what is happen is exaggerated and is currently only making the news in the US to distract people from the cluster flup of the economy and all things associated with it.

Probably because He is too busy helping my wife decide what type of hardwood floor would be best for our kitchen. My wife has actually prayed about this. I imagine there are lots of Mormon women monopolizing God's time with their requests for help in deciding which furnishings or clothes they should buy.

People are dying because other people want them to die. And those other people control access to all the food, shelter, and ammunition.

God has nothing to do with it.
