Nice pretty pictures without substance, unless you think "he is a smart guy and he believes" is somehow substance. Of course that is the only real point of MST, if one can call it that.

This is such a wonderful, welcoming, friendly place!

I never said any bad about you or the person who you linked to, but it was without substance. I do notice that you are the one to attack others though. How nice. :)

It sounds like he has to bifurcate his mind in order to accommodate those two conflicting world views. Otherwise known as cognitive dissonance.

Nice music, though.

The funny thing about MST is that it basically proves that the Apologetics movement is more concerned with credentials and the appearance of respectability than it is with substance. Are you argument tired and illogical? No problem, get some trained scientists to back them up! The only other reason I can think of for its existence is more cynical; perhaps apologists want to prove that apologetics does not cause people to lose their faith, which is something their opponents in the brethren may not believe.

It would be fascinating to see your "proof" in syllogistic form.

Would you set it out that way, please?

Thanks.

Tell you what Dan, I’ll lay out the argument symbolically and metaphorically with this obscure post-Punk album cover…

Quite frankly, I found the video embarrassing - extremely so. Can you imagine this individual standing up in front of graduate class in astronomy or planetary sciences and saying what he said on that video?

This must have been made for the faithful, and the not very well informed faithful at that. For any rational individual who knows anything about science, it was a stunning display of self-delusion and intellectual dishonesty.

If you disagree, think about what kind of grades this individual would have received in astronomy, or astrophysics, or planetray science classes if he would have given the same answers to his professors and instructors that he provided in that video.

This was an overproduced joke. If this is what passes for science, or scientists, or indeed intellectual honesty in Mormonism, it is little wonder that the Church is concerned about losing the best and the brightest of its younger members.

I couldn't have scripted that response more perfectly. Thanks!
