Eternal Progression as a form of Self-Actualization

Do any of you see the Mormon concept of eternal progression as a form of self-actualization? This would imply that in the upper part of this pyramid model resides our spiritual needs.

seemingly you are confusing self-actualizing with self-image actualizing.
Nevertheless, it seems rather academic that "ego" is a step that one treads upon, and leaves behind, as they proceed upward.....though most atheists choose to land there, never to lift their foot again.

Personally no. I know many of my fellow Mormons think this will happen, but President Gordon Hinckley pointed out that we know little about this speculation. However, if there is something out there beyond the point of our death and that something involves the possibility of becoming much more than we have been, then I would like to shoot for that becoming.

We Mormons do not see the dissolution of the self when blending with a cosmic unity. We see an intact ego attached to a body that has the potential for much growth and development.

"We" ? interesting conveyance of doctrine on your part....based on speculation i presume.

i never said "dissolution" but the autonomy of the ego is indeed "left behind" by a progressing and maturing individual. Nevertheless, the poster still confuses self with self-image.

Additionally, i am not sure about what you are proposing. I believe it can be considered that the ego is not necessarily involved at latter development stages. Ego is not a requirement for individuality.
