Did God lie?

Book of Abraham

Chapter 2:22-25

22 And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord said unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;
23 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:
24 Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.
25 And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

Did Abraham lie about God telling him to with hold to the Egyptians that Sarah was his wife?

Ether 3:12 "And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie."

2 Nephi 9:34 "Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell."
This seems to me it was not God as the revelator but Satan as the counterfeit.

If any scholarly individual can justify this, by reason, logic, and by God's Word, I would invite you to do so. Keep in mind though, I am convinced that God made it very simple for us to understand, and no amount of scholarly viewpoints can justify a lie. We are to be more like children.

Good luck, and God bless.

How can someone lie when they don't exist?

That's like saying Santa or the easter bunny lied.

So God does not exist? I'd suspect that if one cannot come to a conclusion on the existence of God, or His identity, that your reply is not a compelling one. Please reply if it applies, thank you.

Sarai is actually Abraham's half sister. Genesis 20:12. No lie.

But I think it should be justification enough that God said so. For example, God said "Thou shalt not kill", but God also commanded the Israelites to go to war and kill. So by your own logic, God is indeed a liar and a hypocrite.

By logic, period. Inconsistency is inconsistency.
