if you correlated it with Adam-God when BY taught it, i suppose it was not. However, since Kimball it would be heresy, according to the definition of the word.(as well as Woodruff, Cannon, and others)
Did not Joseph Smith proclaim that the doctrine of reincarnation was the doctrine of the devil?
I believe that even when considering the clay and the potter sermon, the idea of MMP is quite vague in the OP and will likely just be arguable either way.
I mean are we talking about MMP as a new existence at the end of this life or a new level of existence at the end of this life?

I personally believe that in Christ's church, there should be no ideas called heresy.

But then, Elder McConkie would disagree with me, since he was kind enough to set forth seven of them in one sermon, including belief in the Adam-God Theory, which he assures us is enough to send us straight to hell.

I think there may be heretical actions, but no heretical thoughts.

As to your question about multiple mortal probations, I think subgenius is right that Brigham Young taught just such a proposition as part of his Adam-God Theory; that Adam came to this earth and experienced mortality after he had experienced it on a prior world and been resurrected. It is not clear Brigham Young thought it applied to anybody else, but where there is one example, there may be more.

I think Mormonism is pretty firm in not believing in reincarnation; i.e., multiple mortal probations on one world.

But to my mind, the door is wide open on multiple mortal probations on successive worlds.
