Precept upon precept...
For those that attended Church services and lessons this past weekend what new Gospel principle (whole or part) did you learn about?
What new understanding or further light and knowledge did you receive as a result of your attendance?

We had stake conference.
New stake presidency was formed.
Principle of revelation.
Principle of sustaining authority.
2 Elders from the area 70 were in attendance.
Priesthood Leadership session was inspiring and centered around "love one another"
Insight into the prophetic vision of the "Rescue".
(and now a brief pause as we await the cynical commentary)
Seek freedom and become captive of your desires...seek discipline and find your liberty

But what (as per the OP) was a new Gospel Principle to you?
What specifically was the further light and knowledge that you received?

i am not sure there was a "new" Gospel Principle per se.
What specifically was the further light and knowledge that you received?
Received further L&K on the principle of prayer, on how certain levels of intent and detail can be instrumental in the "effectiveness" of prayer.
Clarification on the prophetic notion of "the Rescue", via how the talents and efforts of ward council can be applied to minister to the specific as opposed to the general.
Received further L&K on the principle of Home Teaching, by ways of keeping focus on the basic premise of "love one another".
Other aspects of this meeting may take a little more time realize and then convey.
Quite obviously this is my particular take on our stake conference, which like GC, is often experienced by an individual's particular prism. (and FYI, i currently serve as EQP)

Re: Precept upon precept...
subgenius, thank you for replying.
It is perhaps a little disappointing (please don't take this as a 'so what' reply) that the key things that have stuck in your mind from a whole Stake Conference are:
Prayers are more effective if you are more intent and more specific.
Ward Council actions are more effective if they are more specific and focussed.
'Love one another' should be the focus to Home Teaching.
I suspect you are not a new member (forgive me if you are) so you should recognise that these things have been taught for decades and decades in Sunday School lessons etc. Shouldn't Stake Conference be better than that? Is it perhaps that members aren't listening or aren't putting these things into practice?

Your post reminds me of the following joke:
A bishop forgot to get a speaker for sacrament one sunday....so he got up and gave a talk
he forgot again the next sunday...got up and gave the same talk he gave before
once again he forgot to get a speaker, so he gave the same talk, yet again
ward council got together and met with the stake president
they spoke about how the bishop had given the same talk for three meetings in a row
the stake president thought about this and asked
"what was his talk about?"
the ward council looked at each other ,and finally admitted that they were not sure what the bishop's talk was about
the stake president calmly stated:
"then let him give it one more time."
To be fair, i did mention that our stake presidency was reorganized, which means that the bulk of the Sunday meeting was a former-and-new-presidency-and-their-wives testimony, followed by a talk from the 2 General Authorities. The bulk of what "stuck" in my mind was primarily from the priesthood leadership meeting of Saturday, admittedly i was not present at the adult session that evening.
Most of what i portrayed in my post is somewhat diluted because the sincerity of discourse on such matters seems to be severely lacking on this forum. It seems more suited for points of debate regarding scriptural doctrine or something that has more tangible resources available for inspection....not my diluted anecdotal posts.

Re: Precept upon precept...
Surely the two General Authorites wouldn't have passed up the rare opportunity of speaking to your area to express a new aspect or precept of the Gospel? What did God inspire them that your area really needed to hear?
Edited to say that reading my post back it sounds sarcastic, sorry it wasn't meant to be.

I have often been able to find something new. The problem isn't finding something new, it is the overwhelming amount of stuff that you have heard over and over and over again that make meetings so monotonous.

Re: Precept upon precept...
I would be interested in seeing a recent conference talk in which the GA expounded on doctrine, where scripture would be the focus of the talk. We do not seem to have any theologians for general authorities any more since McConkie.

We know it. Now we have to live it. Takes reminding. Easy to see by those who post here.
