A thread for BrianH, or a study in comparative theology/mythology.

What are the key differentiating characteristics between these two books of mythology?

Personally I see many similarities.
*Both are fiction.
* Both purport to contain the word of god.
* Both suffer from bad translation.

But, back to the original idea. What distinguishes them apart?

Abraham is likely a fictional character, so if we compare Biblical writings on Abraham with the Book of Abraham, the only difference seems to be age and translation. As in, Genesis is an old book (though not as old as purported) while the Book of Abraham was written in the 19th century. Also, the English translation of Genesis is more or less accurate, while there is no relationship between the Book of Abraham English text and the Egyptian source document.
