In order to practice polygamy, men must be set aside as being spiritually superior to other men. They become in essence superior in the eyes of God and Church. They become religious herrenvolk, the master spirits that will someday procreate in the Celestial Kingdom.

However, I can't help but thinking that any practice that engenders a feeling of superiority and separates us from our fellow humans would be equally displeasing to God. For one thing, such a separation would create a gulf between those professing such superiority (I can take your wive because I am holier or I can have a harem of wives and you must do without because I am more worthy or you must have me because I am the husband and you are but one of my many help-meets) and the Great Commandment that we love others as we love God and ourselves.

It is very late at night and I apologize if what I write is even less coherent than usual. Just want to hear your thoughts regarding the issue I just mentioned.

please, support this claim of required "superiority".

please, provide reasoning for conclusion that polygamy "engenders" a feeling of superiority.

please, provide reasoning that this commandment to "love others" requires an absence of any hierarchical system, or that "love others" implies that no person can be viewed as better or worse than another by any standard.

For a Christian, God appears very interested in such separation and that is what the Gospel is all about. It's available to all, but God knows not all will avail themselves of it. Parable of the Talents is an easy and ready example of this. Malachi 3:17 and Revelation 3:21 are good examples. Etc.

Aside from your usual twisting of scripture, Jesus himself was friend to the outcasts, sinners, and heretics. You can find anything in the Bible to support any position you wish, but try not to pin that viewpoint on Jesus himself. It's dishonest.

The entire LDS gospel and scriptures supports the idea that some people (intelligence/spirit) are greater or better than others. Their entire heaven theology is a multi-level scheme, for example.

Actually, you can't as most likely you would find yourself in conflict with other verses. If you can't account for all verses on a subject, your position is likely false. Buffalo has lots of experience with that......

The parable of the talents has nothing to do with feeling superior to and cutting yourself off from "inferior" people.

It shows that people are judged on merit which is an express example of superiority.
