From the prophet JRR Tolkien, I would refute the first statement; the conflict between good and evil is not "friendly". However, going to Hegel, such conflicts are often resolved through reconciliation of antitheses. We then go to the ying and yang of things. There is some good in all things, which requires judgment, or sifting.

The second statement is a good one. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, the more conflict there is between rabid anti-Mormons and TBM's, the more the conflict escalates. Both sides would moderate if they were listen to the valid criticisms of each other. Mormonism rose up out of a current of American thought of the early 19th century, therefore, it is still a reflection of the frame of reference of certain subset within North American society.

Similarly, the LDS influence on American society acts to preserve some of the same cultural values within the larger society.

These are the simple reflections of a holder of a MA +30 in psychology.

Obviously, beginning such a thread on Super-Bowl weekend is not advisable. :)
