...so that the COB watchers can see what needs to be incorporated into the talks for the next one.

To help you here is what General Conference is meant to deliver:
What is general conference?
General conference is a semiannual gathering of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During general conference weekend, Church members and others who are interested gather worldwide in a series of two-hour sessions to receive inspiration and instruction from Church leaders.

Okay. I think the members would benefit from having real clarity about the Word of Wisdom, particularly the confusion that abounds about how much meat to eat and when.

It would be faith promoting for a mass number of current inactives to see exactly how Tithing funds have been dispersed across the key categories (GA stipends and expenses etc, Business investments, Property acquisition, BYU...oh...and helping the poor and needy).

It would also be beneficial to understand wether we are currently supposed to be active in the fight against gay marriage (as per Prop 8) or passive as in the UK where it's just 'let them get on with it and mind our own business'.

I also think we need an update on Arthur Patton....

Now ask yourself, which is more likely to happen, that any of those topics will be addressed or that Monson will tell the same story about "a very old bridge which spans the River Somme"?

I am betting we hear the "800 widows in his ward when he was a 16 year old bishop" story. It gets better every time I hear it.

I hope they trot out the story of the teacher that spares the rod for the poor little hungry kid, but gets his jollies out by whipping the big kid.

Love that one!

Oh, and I hope there are more stories of poor families that have to be separated and sell all their belongings so they can afford to go to the temple.

Imagine their surprise when they discover they need to PAY for garments!

Be loyal, worthy to enter temple, members urged (Published: Saturday, May 9, 1998) :
More than 3,500 people gathered on a mountainside overlooking this southern Brazil city May 2 to witness the ceremonial beginning of construction of the Porto Alegre Brazil Temple.

President James E. Faust, second counselor in the First Presidency, presided at the groundbreaking ceremony. The new temple is the fourth for this populous land and will overlook the city from the east toward a large river and port for which the city is well-known. The temple was announced Oct. 4, 1997, in general priesthood meeting by President Gordon B. Hinckley.
...
President Faust cited Doctrine and Covenants Section 109, which contains the dedicatory prayer for the Kirtland Temple, and noted the promises made at the time of the temple dedication.

He emphasized the need for Saints all over the world to begin to sacrifice for temple building. He recalled how, when the Sao Paulo Temple was being built, members in Argentina found ways to donate.

They gave the gold from their dental work to help pay on the temple, said President Faust. He explained that he had purchased some of that gold, for more than the market price, and has shown the gold fillings to various congregations to illustrate the nature of the sacrifice made by these members.

Perhaps they could give a full accounting of the First Presidency's workload for the last twelve months or the coming twelve months in the form of publishing a written schedule and objectives.

Because how can we sustain someone when we don't know what they do or have done?

For instance Mr Oakes went to Japan recently on the widows mite.
He also took Mrs Oakes along for the trip.

I would like to see an accounting of the time and expense of this trip and what was achieved. In the UK the members of Parliament have their expenses published for the public to see and review. I say let the Apostles and FP do exactly the same for Church members.
