Is the Church really growing?

The numbers indicate that membership isn't growing in line with general population growth. Therefore, not only are convert numbers smaller as a proportion, birth rates are reducing in Mormon members.
I guess that last been down is to the sharp increase in single adult males exiting the Church leaving a large imbalance of potential husbands and potential wives.
If your salary were to grow slower than inflation, your wage becomes worth less and less and less. Membership numbers are doing the same.
The short answer is, no its not.

Based on what I know is that in the US the church is growing slowly and maintaining it's proportion of the population. In the rest of the developed world it is either flat lined and not keeping up with population growth or decreasing in numbers. The developing world(where the church has a presence) has high baptismal numbers, but how many stay active tends to be very low. The US has the advantage of areas that have high LDS numbers which helps to keep many BIC active due to culture and family. The information age has certainly hurt the church, and I believe it will get worse over time, forcing the church to either change or go through a slow death. I would still believe except for the information from places like fair and farms.
To get accurate numbers you really have to go with census information. The church only releases some basic numbers.

I think it is pretty clear that the LDS Church is a US Church. It has its roots here, much like the Lutheran Church does. It seems as no surprise to me that the majority of growth would still be here, in the US. I think that it is easier to see why the Catholic Church has more of a world-wide presence, particularly in Europe. The Catholic Church headquarters are in Rome.

The Church has been in recession since 1989.
What happened in 1989?
The Berlin Wall came down.
Tiananman Square.
Commercial internet service providers began to emerge in the late 1980s.

The church's population percentage will skyrocket after the destruction of the wicked, as Malachi prophesied. That will probably be complete sometime after New York is devastated by earthquake, Boston is overrun by the sea, and Albany is decimated by fire.
