What is the mechanism that the Church uses for collating how many opposing votes were cast in areas that Dieter couldn't observe?

It's my understanding that the sustaining of leaders that takes place during GC is only meant to be a formality, and that if you would like to dissent, then it should be done at ward conference, when they ask the exact same questions.

Or maybe you could videotape yourself dissenting in your livingroom while watching conference on BYUTV and then mail it to the COB. If lots of people did that it would maybe make a statement, or at least be an inconvenience for the mail room.

well, maybe - though i did not personally attend this recent conference, it is not uncommon for a few hands to be raised in opposition - especially outside.

agreed...but i suppose you would claim that he likely used church funds to have special eye surgery that would prevent vision of such things.

Interestingly enough, when this occurs the presiding authority is to interview the objector(s) to ascertain what the cause is for the objection. If the objection is based on actual worthiness for whatever the calling is, then the presiding authority must resolve that issue. If it is caused by something else - usually personal - then the sustaining "holds" and the situation is counseled.

It is quite interesting at how most of your questions and opinions disregard the obvious theocratic structure inherent in religion.
