Thought it brings a good perspective contrary to the "babble" here.

Brigham sure lived large off the membership.

Holy crap! Actually, they all did quite well, didn't they?

Modest standard middle class homes, and then living in an apartment is "doing quite well" in your mind?

Sure, it's well, and not bad, but it's certainly not like they are profiting off the Church and it's members which is after all the standard claim by anti-mormons.

They live very modestly as any Mormon.

Joseph Smith: Nauvoo Mansion

Brigham Young had several large homes in Utah. He did not live modestly, he lived an upper class life.

John Taylor had a whole row of houses to house his family(ies).
This photo shows only two of the homes in the row.

All Mormons do not live modestly, which is fine. Living modestly doesn't make you better or more righteous than anybody else.

The homes are all very lovely. The early church leaders lived in large, beautiful homes for the time. The later leaders have lived in very nice middle class homes in very nice neighborhoods. That does not tell us anything about their personal wealth. They probably have/had lovely bank accounts and paid off homes.

I do believe the apartments they've lived in are high end.

Let's face it. They all have lived better than you or I and that is just fine. The Corporation is a good one to work for in the higher ranks.

Was there a reason for leaving out Brigham Young's Guardo House/Amelia Palace. I can see where they would not want to appear too ostentatious. Where any other residences left out?

That new 24,000 ft penthouse seems a fitting place for a President. Wonder if Jim and Tammy Fay Bakker were able to match it?

Note how you guys only cherry pick early Mormonism, in which THEY HAD LARGE FAMILY's.... and completely ignore every prophet since, their modest standard sized middle class homes.

How many tithe paying Mormon's do you think live in middle class homes?
How many of Jesus' Apostles lived in middle class homes?
How many tithe paying Mormon's do you think live in middle class homes paid for by monies the Church receives in from donations by the members?

Why is it that the more senior the General Authority, the more stipend they receive and the more expensive property they live in....?

Smith did very well for himself, didn't he? Being a prophet is a very profitable enterprise.
