...the thinking has been done.

Is this maxim still the code for Mormons to live by?
No need to think for yourself, just do what the Prophet tells you.

Sounds like Satan's plan to me...

So we can safely assume that the thinking has been done with regards to:

1) How President Monson met his wife;
2) How President Monson was in the US Navy; and
3) How President Monson visited widows when he was a bishop.

Do you hear me??? The thinking has been done! No more speculation on these important subjects, which are so crucial that they encompass the entirety of the prophet's waxings during General Conference.

unfortunately this is your mantra.

Is this maxim still the code for Mormons to live by?

not true, please provide "proof" or concede.

No need to think for yourself, just do what the Prophet tells you.

not true, the scriptures, prophets, and manuals consistently and overwhelmingly instruct, command, and insist that one think for one's self.

Sounds like Satan's plan to me...

you would know

now please, cite the minority quotes, out of context, that support your position, put them forth as doctrine, or the majority opinion, or whatever suits you, and then try to convince everyone that your obscure references are actually what is taught and practiced....geez, you are like a broken record...of a song that wasn't that good anyway.

I knew you'd bite...

Sister Elaine A. Cannon, who has devoted much of her life to guiding and teaching young people, bore this witness of the living prophet: “Now, as he speaks to us … it is as if the Lord Jesus Christ himself were addressing us. … Christ made this very clear when he said to others of his children a time ago, ‘Blessed are ye if ye shall give heed unto the words of these … whom I have chosen from among you to minister unto you’ (3 Nephi 12:1). … Your course should become clear, your priorities ought to be known to you. … Personal opinions vary. Eternal principles never do. When the prophet speaks … the debate is over” (“If We Want to Go Up, We Have to Go On,” New Era, Jan.–Feb. 1979, pp. 40–41).

Yes, thank you for being predictable as noted in previous post....and notice that you are guilty of THIS once again (the prophecy has come true!)
But wait...what is this?
While the prophet of God receives revelation and inspiration to guide the Church as a whole, revelation flows at every level, including to the leaders of congregations and to individual families and members. In fact, individual members are expected to seek that kind of divine guidance to help them in their own lives. Members are also expected to prayerfully seek their own conviction of the principles their leaders teach them.
http://www.LDS.org/manual/common-questi ... ng+prophet
In case you missed it...that was actually instruction from the Church/Prophet....notice the glaring and obvious contradiction with your position.

D&C 21:4 "4 Wherefore, meaning the church, thou shalt give HEED unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me;" (emphasis mine)
notice the intentional use of the word "heed"...it has been linked in case you are unsure of its meaning.

So, we see that as predicted you drudge out some out-of-context-quote and prop it up as actual doctrine...allegedly supported by a link to a chapter that, honestly, does not say anything about "do not think".
The facts are simple and easily found...the Church and Prophets all encourage, instruct, and command that members think for themselves.
You really should re-think your criticism...perhaps you could make more hay if you went down the path of what it means to "sustain"...but you likely hit the same wall...you see, there can be no "victory" with the strategy you take, you do not want to build up, you just want tear-down...and that leads to nothing but ruin. You should consider what your goal is, because every goal has at least 2 paths...and it seems that you have gotten into the habit of choosing the "low road". If you are sincere in what you are trying to accomplish then surely you can recognize that it is easier to catch flies with sugar than vinegar....but bitterness and cynicism can not ever be "sweet".

i like this line the best
"Members are also expected to prayerfully seek their own conviction of the principles their leaders teach them."

It is official doctrine, it's in an official teaching manual published by the Church. Young men worldwide are being taught that "when the prophet speaks...the debate is over". Primary children worldwide are being taught to explicitly "follow the prophet".

It's official...
It's doctrine...
It's current...

I don't quite know how to put this...oh...I remember...YOU LOSE!

What? Confusing, conflicting teachings out of SLC?

Never!
