Dear MormonVoices volunteer,

A few articles need your attention and positive impact.

First, the Washington Post is featuring an article about the possible political implications of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. It has already garnered over 600 comments in one day--and a lot of them are negative. If you want to respond to specific details regarding the massacre, the resources at FAIR will be helpful: http://en.fairmormon.org/Mountain_Meado ... re/Summary Please also respond to the various charges brought by commenters about Mormons in general, and remember to show them, through your words, that Mormons do strive for Christlike kindness. The Washington Post article is here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ ... story.html

Another article, which is being syndicated in several publications, attempts to analyze the LDS church's wish to be accepted as a Christian denomination. The article's author appears to believe that this acceptance is being sought at the expense of distinctive Mormon beliefs (additional scripture, living prophets, etc.) Please leave a comment kindly correcting the author, and noting that Mormons believe in Christ no matter how others categorize us, and that there is no conflict between that belief and our other beliefs. This article might help you: http://mormonvoices.org/13/non-christian

The article to comment on can be found at the following links:

Thank you for your participation!

Sock puppetry can only get you so far. The underlying problem is that most people don't know a gorram thing about Mormonism, so it is very easy to claim that anti-Mormonism is "bigoted" or "intolerant." But that is going to change quickly and dramatically once the Gentiles learn what a Nephite (supposedly) is.

MormonVoices was previously known as the Mormon Defense League, which was announced at the August 2011 FAIR Conference. Some FAIR members (such as myself) are also members of MV, but not all. The purposes of the two organizations are different. FAIR is oriented toward providing information to members, while MV is oriented toward providing information to the media.

I think you should change your name to the Mormon Avengers.

Do you place the caveat on all your postings to the media that your views do not represent the official position of the Church and are, to all intent and purpose, your own personal opinion?

Which is the most militant group of the two, or do they speak as one?

I think you should change your name to the Mormon Avengers.

This might work if the costumes were changed to all gray. However, the Secret/Sacred Council of the Fifty may already have dibs on that name.

Hey, no sweat, Wiki. It should be no problem for the MV to explain how the Baker-Fancher wagon train of 'gentiles' deserved genocide at the hands of the Saints.
