Guest commentary: Joseph Smith’s flaws don’t make Mormonism a fraud By MELISSA INOUYE
http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/news/54327371-78/joseph-smith-church-faith.html.cspMelissa Inouye has created a brilliant analogy by comparing sour dough starter to the founding of the LDS Church. The starting concoction of wild yeast and bacteria may be stinky, but if the bread mixture is handled properly, you are left with what can be a tasty product.

At the time I watched the comments there, there were 666 of them. (No, the BEAST is sleeping...)
I've read only the first one:
somebody wrote:The fact that a religious tradition works for you on a cultural level doesn't make it valid or true, it just means that your life is wrapped up in it to the point that you're beyond caring about the facts. the historical record is available, and any rational observer can see the mosaic of lies and absurdity surrounding the origin of Mormonism. some just choose to sleep better at night by making up absurd analogies like bread making. this is a joke of a piece.
2.
I've read somewhere, at one time:
"A kingdom founded by a demented person - crazy? lunatic? - can be as valid as other ones."

10 Crazy RoyalsWhen someone is talked about as being crazy, they usually aren’t the ones calling the shots. However, there have been a few notable cases of these mad men or women, all of royal blood, ruling countries, much to the chagrin of their subjects or much to the delight of their parents who act as regents. Luckily it hasn’t happened all that recently – can you imagine the posh padding required to hold an insane royal?
And hopefully these 10 wackos will stay in the recesses of history and not pop up again – you know the whole history repeating itself?

The opinions of a few "lunatics" commenting on a Salt Lake Trib article don't make Mormonism a fraud either.

That's your opinion, not fact. There is no proof it is a fraud, nor will there ever be. You want proof that Joseph was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon is what it claims to be but yet you cannot provide proof to the contrary, so it comes down to you wanting it not to be true, plain and simple.

Yes, it is.

No, I don't want proof. As my grandchildrens don't want proof against Easter Bunny. (The ones older than four...)
I don't care josephs and warrenjeffs' and reverendmoons and that bunch of "prophets".
They fend for themselves...
but yet you cannot provide proof to the contrary, so it comes down to you wanting it not to be true, plain and simple.
I can not provide proof against Santa and his reindeers. I should not. Plain and simple.
You are the one who want it (Mormonism, as is) to be true, plain and simple.

Ludwigm, there is great truth in what you say. One corresponding American saying is "whatever blows your hair back" is right for you. Some people like to open their egg on the little end and some prefer the big end. The important thing is for the people of Lilliput to not go to war over the egg.

Yes.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may - but we send out thousands of missionaries to prove that they are all wrong, and should change.
by the way opening the egg...
Swift in the XVIII century prophesied the two ways of data storing in computers.
The
big endian and the
little endian.

Eggs have no ends. We from Middleputt believe that eggs should be broken from the middle, preferably with the yellow yolk divided equally. No egg half should be without taste!
