Church membership statistics

This past General Conference was the first time for me that I didn't hear the usual spill on the Church growth and how many members there are now. I am positive that I didn't hear that, or maybe I missed it. What are everyone's thoughts on this? Why would they stop sharing those numbers with us? Could it be that as of late, true growth is actually negatve and only 1/3 of the entire membership is still active? Thanks.

This only happens during the first General Conference of the year (April).

Alf O'Mega's Handicapping the Statistical Report VIII

Someone see if they can get Alf to start posting it over here so I don't forget about it. He used to post it on the MDD but stopped when he became offended the posts weren't included in the archives.

Just to be pedantically clear about it, I wasn't offended, just disappointed and a bit surprised. The statistical report posts have usually been bipartisan favorites, and I would have expected somebody to have nominated them for archiving. (I wasn't around, so I didn't know the scythe was poised.)

Last March I tried to post the report here, but the site was down the day or two I was getting it ready. I expect to bring it back here in 2013.
