Does anybody know where long time Mormon defender Van Hale went? I know he retired but it seems like he has just dropped out of the apologetic business. I heard he was taking alot of heat when he came out and stated that the Book of Mormon is not a historical document, maybe he has finaly realized the business of defending Mormonism is a losing battle?

I have no idea. And Mormonism does not need defending in the first place. He most likely stopped doing it because there isn't any money in it which lead to bad things like debt, house being repossessed, no car, begging on the street, etc.

When you say he "retired," do you mean that he quit doing his weekly radio show?

It's a losing battle only when one strays that far from the doctrine. In that case, one is not defending Mormonism at all, but something else entirely and thus cannot be supported.
