It is always difficult to know if corresponding undesirable behaviors accompany someone's TBMness. For instance, are they judgmental and condemning? Do they harbor weird right-wing conspiracies? Do they insist on buying Fords and eating wheat germ? Have they entered into the zone of Gospel Nazis?

I've met TBMs who have none of these traits and are just like regular people in thought and action. If someone's beliefs make them a good person and these beliefs do not knock the stuffings out of their compassion and general humanity, then more power to them!

I'm about as TBM as they come, a real front row of the Chapel type. I try (though not perfect yet) to use my religion as a means to help uplift and improve my treatment of my fellow man.

It finally clicked...you're thesometimesaint at MAD...by the way, there are many folks in your ward I most likely grew up with, or their children at the least, and heck I might even know you.

And I think you are definitely succeeding. Every time mentalgymnast goes on and on about how everyone treats him badly because he's a Mormon I think of you, and how differently (and much more successfully!) you handle the discussions here. You definitely live the best of your religion and I respect your approach and how you handle yourself on this board. If I recall correctly one of the first times I posted here I told a story about my crazy intolerant TBM relatives and you very calmly and supportively noted that not all TBMs lived that way or felt that way. I really appreciated that!!! You definitely lifted my spirit.

I keep my politics to myself when at church. I'm there for the religion not the politics. However it is possible.

Not sure what politics has to do with my post? But knowing the Yucaipa stake is pretty conservative, it is probably wise to keep your political views on the down low.

Not so much anymore, but we are still hanging in there. We are getting a Tractor Supply in Calimesa, that might help.
