a history of the discovery of the planet by humans

Antarctica was not sighted until 1820 and humans first set foot on the continent in 1895. Where are the human remains on this continent? There needs to be some if Mormonism is true. An antediluvian carcass or two?

If I recall correctly there are no human remains because they were all consumed by evil beings from beyond the stars. See At the Mountains of Madness, by brother H. P. Lovecraft.

Which continent, and when? Antarctica was once as warm as California and Florida.

The earliest fossils of anatomically modern humans are from the Middle Paleolithic, about 200,000 years ago.

From your link:
During the Eocene, about 40 to 50 million years ago, Antarctica's climate resembled the modern-day Californian coast...

Humans have never been to Antarctica until the Norwegians 1st set foot there in 1895.

You didn't say when. I have no problem with Homo Sapiens Sapiens originating in Africa some 250,000 years ago.

I know that you accept the science though I am not aware of how you marry it with the LDS religion. The point was that humans have never been to Antarctica until very recently, 1895, which is "when" they were there for the very first time.

It's really pretty simple. My science tells me how and my religion tells me why God did it.

I have no problem with Antarctica being uninhabited by people until the 1890's. But we can't go by lack of human remains alone being there as confirmation.

That's a bit simplistic. If we focus on the atonement, religion tells a story of "why" but science fails to tell us "how." If we discuss evolution science tells us the "how" but religion really doesn't have a "why" to offer. In fact religious texts are mute about the topic. It's almost as if the authors were altogether ignorant of how life came about over the course of the history of our planet. The Doctrine and Covenants makes it pretty clear that Adam and Eve are literal individuals. How you patch that detail into the science I'd like to know. It would require an explanation that is a little more involved than "religion tells us why and science tells us how."

Oh it's simple. But I disagree that it is simplistic. Just because we don't know how something was done, doesn't mean it can't be done. Why evolution, because that is currently the best way to produce a desired organism. Being mute on a subject is not the same thing as being ignorant. However we have been leaning much more about how it happened for about 400 years now.

I don't have a problem with a literal Adam and Eve, of some 7000 years ago. According to Scripture were formed outside the Garden of Eden then placed there. Where/when they were formed is not said in the Scriptures.
