We've had several discussions on belief, devotion, obedience, etc. etc. etc. I just thought I would give a heads up to an upcoming program on the history channel: Cults dangerous devotion.
It sounds interesting.

Just to be really clear... I am not saying the LDS church is a cult. I have an interest in why we believe as we do, how beliefs are formed, and what in the human allows us to follow others.

The Milgram experiment is a classic in the study of why humans follow others. Any study of human behavior will show classic patterns. Cults, churches, business, gangs... all exhibit classic patterns. Cost vs utility will always prevail.
