I think the hymn text predates the Williams tune, so I would imagine it was one of the hymn compilers (perhaps Stephens).

The law is not evil, the implications of it can be. The Universe runs down and for all intents and purposes ceases. While I don't think the Universe has malicious intent to my perception this is an evil to overcome.

If you like the tune, try another variation called Star of the County Down. It is a real toe tapper. Two versions of this song I have enjoyed are by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and Van Morrison.

I noticed that Mitt is a real handsome guy. I could see him cast in the role of the President, much like Ronald Regan was able to play the role with the help of some good scriptwriters and makeup men.
