I was reading about the Reed Smoot hearings and learned a lot of intersting things. One was that BY directed or wrote the Oath of Vengeance into the temple ceremony. This early Church history goes from bad to worse. This Oath of Vengeance must have been in full force and effect when the MMM occured. I still need some links or directions showing Joseph Fielding Smith caught by the Senate either withholding information or in some type of lie.

Hi.
I just downloaded the complete hearings. They are on the web and downloadable. I couldn't tell by your post whether or not you have the complete hearings.
They are fascinating. Smith comes across as an ignoramous, at best. I was quite impressed with B.H. Roberts testimony. He, at least, was a class act through the whole process.
Smith, on the other hand, well.... If I was still a believing Mormon and read his testimony, I would have a hard time believing he was an inspired prophet of the one and only true God. Really,...
a truly pathetic performance by the prophet of God. An embarrassment.
I doubt many Mormons have ever read the transcripts.
If you don't have the link, then google Nate Oman and reed smoot hearings (he is a Mormon and a law professor somewhere in Virginia.) He has a link from his homepage at the school to the complete hearings.
You definitely need a high-speed connection to grab it all, but it really is worth it. Let me know if you can't find it and I will send you the link. I just don't have it off the top of my head but it is easy to find.

I detest my loose style and my libertine sentiments. I thank God, who has removed from my eyes the veil...
