I would venture that the problem is that we use it so rarely.

I just love your excuses for lack of evidence for deity & LDS brass and now for Holy Ghost.

Let me give you an advice and you follow for a week;
Think as there's nothing but your brain working for you, all your senses
are the product of billions of neurons firing inside your skull.

Holy Ghost is part of that. Some idiot created it for the purpose of controlling the masses.

Your brain is the only asset you've got.
Peace.

It's not an excuse. It's reproving myself.

Thank you for giving me an advice but I've already tried that. I would add that this idiot failed. They're not controlling the masses very well.

Robert L. Millet tries to explain LDS Church doctrine to those of other faiths, but he has to overcome his audience’s false ideas. The problem is, those false ideas often come from members of the LDS Church.

Yes, sadly, Mormons often don’t know or understand what is being and has been taught by their own leaders.

He bemoaned how whenever he presents LDS doctrine to a group of non-Mormons, somebody will say that they know a bunch of Mormons who believe differently. Millet joked that he would like to respond, "You know a bunch of dumb Mormons!"

Awesome! If your understanding of LDS teachings is different from Millet’s understanding, you’re a "dumb" Mormon!

The significance (of a truth) may be known by the loud jangles of opposition, " Millet said.

Some of those truths that cause people to "jangle" are the fall, becoming like God and the trinity.

...and polygamy, and racism, and blood atonement, and whitewashing history, and changes to revelations, and....

The questioner wanted to know if Mormons believe they will be in charge of universes and planets as a god.

According to Millet, the apostle said he didn’t know anything about that planetary stuff, but that the point was for us to strive to become more like God and more like Christ.

Really! An apostle doesn’t know anything about the belief that Mormons have the potential to become gods and goddesses of their own planets?!

Too bad this apostle remains nameless throughout the article. I’m very interested in knowing who might have said this and why it is going unattributed.

Details of the post mortal condition are sketchy, the apostle said according to Millet, but looking forward to living forever with his family, "That’s godhood as I understand it."

Hmmm. So godhood is simply the belief that one will dwell with one’s family for eternity. That’s not the understanding of "godhood" I was raised to believe in, but I suppose my parents, my teachers, and, of course, I, are all just "dumb Mormons."

Millet concluded by saying it was the duty of Latter-day Saints to reach out and build bridges with other people. He said they do not have to be shy about their beliefs, but they do need to be clear so they will not be misunderstood.

Wow. Is this the same Bob Millet who was encouraging potential missionaries to not directly answer an interlocutor’s questions?!

The first step is acknowledging it.

Sure wish the Holy Ghost would have whispered in Paul Dunns ear to tell the truth instead of being such a money grubbing liar.
Wish he would have told Marion D Hanks not to bet his wife.
Wish he would have told Brigham through Joseph Fielding and ET that 'darkies are equal people'.
Maybe he could have told Mark Hoffmans dad that Markie was a Murderer?

Mike Reed wrote:Sigh... Millett is really getting to me. I am tired of the spin. The rewriting of history. The constant publication of new books, without any real research. No substantial contribution to Mormon scholarship whatsoever. And now he insists that all should be on the same page that HE is on. Please. I am sorry... but sometimes I can't help but think the dude is one huge state-puff-spiritual-twinkie. This is one of those times.

I'm sympathetic with this viewpoint. Millet has always struck me as being in the Bruce R. Mc Conkie genre. Maybe the still, small voice tells him he'll be a GA one fine day.

Millet could also use the argument that LDS doctrine is evolving in stages of interpretation.

I was there on Tuesday and heard Brother Millet's talk.

I agree with what he said! There are too many members, even in my own student ward(College 11th Ward), that talk about the Gospel with half truths, faith promoting stories, things they heard from their parents, institute teachers, relatives etc.. uhh it is frustrating!!!

I always correct them and tell them that they should participate in online LDS apologetics to get their facts straight. Listen to leaders like Brother Millet, attend meetings like the one he spoke at!

I also tell them that our Bishop(Dr. Daniel Peterson) is the top LDS apologist at the BYU Maxwell Institute and they should just ask him!

I wonder if Bishop Peterson would give a crash course to our ward on getting the straight facts and how to talk about the gospel to not only investigators but to the less active.
... our church isn't true, but we have to keep up appearances so we don't get shunned by our friends and family, fired from our jobs, kicked out of our homes, ... Please don't tell on me. ~maklelan
