Missionaries going home because of tech addictions?

Why should missionaries have to handwrite (and mail) their correspondence? The missionary families I know print out their emails and pictures and keep them in a binder and give the binder to the missionary when they return home.

I see gaming nearly as destructive as hardcore porn addiction.

Much of the gaming today involves wholesale graphic carnage, violence. How does one see others as any more than objects after years of desensitization to taking a life.

Do the suits even address this yet?

The apostles have warned against excessive or unwholesome gaming. I remember it coming up in general conference a few years ago.

Actually, a TBM relative told me of a young man in his ward that didn't want to go on a mission because his guild would miss him. I guess it is better to make that decision before going on a mission, but it is sad how much these on-line games and social networks are dominating people's lives and interfering with their real lives.

I can see myself as a grandfather now:

"Back in my day, we tracted on the real streets and knocked on real doors. We didn't just run around the Arathi Highlands killing Murlocs and telling people about the Book of Mormon. We looked them in the real eye. The Book of Mormon wasn't illustrated with pictures of Nephi looking like a Paladin chopping off the head of Laban who looked like an orc back then either. You had to use your imagination to see the decapitation.. We had to go outside and brave the actual weather....not like the lousy fake weather patched in in 3.46."
