Maybe this isn't the right forum for this question but does anyone know how much of the LDS priesthood doctrine is actually taught in the Book of Mormon?
Since it is the most correct book and contains the fullness of the Gospel (allegedly) I would expect to see the doctrine at least somewhat clearly.
It's obvious from history that the priesthood doctrines developed as a way for Smith to secure power. But can Mormons really find the doctrine explicitly or implicitly in the Book of Mormon?

Alma 13 is probably the closest.

Re: Priesthood in the Book of Mormon?
Nope. Priesthood is only mentioned in passing once in Alma 4 then more fully in Alma 13--and the priesthood taught there is arguably a priesthood of all believers.
The reasons why are obvious: Joseph Smith was still in his Quasi-Protestant phase, and he had not yet realized that "modern-day revelation" as epistemology is incredibly unwieldy and hard to control, so he hadn't yet developed the idea of priesthood as a control on it.
I actually have an essay in a book published by the Maxwell Institute on how the priesthood in Alma 13 is a priesthood of all believers. DM me your email and I'll scan it to you.

Here is my friend Kristeen Black's essay on priesthood in Alma 13, which has some similarities to my essay:
