"ThoughtfulSaint" is a Grade-A asshole Twitter. DCP should really do his research before quoting people.

Jacob Hansen is the same reckless deznat who said in a video podcast about the SEC scandal and settlement, "if you think the church was the bad guy" (ie, church leaders actually did deliberately break the law), then you either "already hate the church" or are a "brainwashed government worshipper." That the SEC took $5 mil of the church’s money on “threat of violence.”

A totally credible source, Dan.
Wow. Thank you for this illuminating post, Dr. Moore. That Dr. Peterson would deliberately withhold the name of this “source” is both interesting and unsurprising. On the one hand: of course he’s relying on the Mormon equivalent of a neo-Nazi to support his point—his gullibility is legendary. But I’m a bit surprised at the vague “secrecy.” What, is he afraid that his hardcore readership is going to object to the fact that he’s citing someone who’s squarely within the DezNat movement?

Ultimately, this smacks of desperation. I don’t know if you saw it, but DCP recently confessed to something that we have been saying about him all along—I.e., that he suffers from a massive inferiority complex. In his post, he compared himself to a Dickens character (and LOL at that!!), and admitted that he was embarrassed about the house he grew up in, because it wasn’t a fancy upper-class abode. So, it really makes a lot of sense that he would be flailing around now, looking for ways to justify the Church’s humongous, ill-begotten wealth. Being a member of a filthy-rich church makes him feel like he’s moving up in the world.

Not that it matters, but this “highly successful” entrepreneur (according to DCP) drives a 2009 Hyundai Sonata.

The “successful tech entrepreneur” who said he’d tithe even if the church burned the money was none other than Deznat blogger Jacob Hansen a.k.a. Thoughtful Faith.

Way to cite credible sources, Dan. Not sure why the identity had to be hidden behind effusive language regarding Hansen’s financial credibility, when he’s very public about the silly extremist view. Would he really be perfectly fine with the church “burning” tithing funds? Really? Would Dan be fine with it too? Let’s explore that. It seems an incredibly cultish thing to say. As well as 100% disingenuous.

Could Hansen be fairly described as a highly successful, remarkably bright, and very wealthy tech entrepreneur? (I know almost nothing about him beyond the mind-numbing video in which he discussed the SEC settlement.) I had an entirely different person in mind when I read Dr. Peterson’s posts.

The Dicken's character? Would it be Pipp?
Pip
Pip has low self-esteem. He is not valued and does not value himself. He feels guilty for his very existence, thanks to his sister who constantly reminds him how she has suffered because of him. Other relatives and friends reinforce his feelings by telling him how grateful he should be. His only positive in life is Joe,

Wow. An SEC fine is "taken" on “threat of violence.”

Tying this in with the IRS document where the LDS church explanation for lying was 'we don't feel we have to fill that in', and this is becoming a church about as far away from my childhood experience as possible. The AF 'we believe in obeying the laws of the land' and 'being honest in our dealings w our fellow man' seems to be completely out the window, even at the very highest levels.

I also had Bill Reel on my show discussing the problems of Jacob Hansen, whom Bill had a discussion with the Deznat brainwashed cultist. It is a significant conversation Bill and I had. Dan Peterson would do very well paying attention to the problems his source has, that is, assuming he actually cares about credibility.

I'm afraid that something may have permanently warped my mind recently: it took me a second or two to think "Article of Faith", and not ... well ... the perhaps more common meaning of "AF" :D
