CWK: Snobbery in Mormon Studies

Post by Kishkumen »

The latest CWK video, dropping this evening (10 pm Mountain Time), is about conflict between scholars and groups of scholars in the study of Mormonism in the form of snobbery. It is a short view at a little over 15 minutes. Check it out!
People approach the study of Mormonism in different ways, and the value of what they do cannot necessarily be reduced to their approach. Unfortunately, people can still be snobs toward others who don't approach the study of Mormonism in the same way. Be like Prof. Richard Bushman and value the contributions of those who study Mormonism from a different perspective (academic vs. non-academic, believer vs. non-believer).

"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”
