The Last Picture Show...then the Red Pill...Overtime

Post by sock puppet »

It's as old as the story of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Reality bites. The movie--it's over, go home. Stories. We humans love 'em. Ahh, the Blair Witch Project. There's a classic of marketing. The suspension of disbelief began well before you bought your ticket and entered the light and sound deprivation chamber, where the flickering and audio track could captivate and control. Or, a repeated narrative in a social pressure cooker where the emotions are muted to the somber and solemn, where guilt and inadequacy live on. Or even better, tune in and root for the orange or the green, groaning with setbacks, cheering each momentary gain, and second guessing the judgment calls.

Monday morning comes and you pay your bills. Church, movies, the game--working for the weekend. Five or six days of the grind of austere reality, for a day or two of never, neverland.

Sock,

Knowing everything you know now, would you take the blue pill if you had a choice and plug yourself back into the Matrix of Mormonism?

There are so many that I know who prefer living a life of "Ignorance is bliss" and willingly refuse to take the red pill. Life is too scary for them to leave the cocoon.

Read the pill ingredients on the label. Stay away from any that include pseudo-goodness or a reoccurring pharmacy charge.

So, I looked up the ingredients and I see D&C red #33. So, I put 'red' in past tense pronunciation for read and looked up D&C 33 and all I see is gobbledygook. And now understand what sock puppet is talking about as to what he has to look forward to on Sundays.

By the way, Great writing, sockpuppet!

If one wants a good reason to not vote for DT. - Watch him talk. If one wants a good Mormon board to discuss on - Watch people on here talk. If one wants a good reason to confirm J. Smith is an idiot - Watch him talk in D&C 33 -

If I had the choice? If one could stuff him/herself back in Pandora's Box and pull the lid shut? Even if possible, I don't see the appeal of Mormonism. Now, the 100-acre Forest, that holds some appeal.

Is the blue pill really a viable option for those who cling to it (Mormonism, in the instance of this board)? Perhaps ephemeral at best. Humans are curious. We look. That is the blue pill. The Rubicon has been crossed. That box opened, never to be fully shut again. What one saw continues to eat away at his/her testimony like the worm in RFK Jr's brain.
